Our Valley’s Water Story: From Watershed to Showerhead

Glendale Hosts Free Presentations on Valley’s Water History and Future

Are we in a drought? Do we have enough water for the future? Bring your water questions to this free program hosted by the Glendale Water Services Department in partnership with the Salt River Project (SRP).

Learn about our Valley’s unique water history and how water is being managed for the future at “Our Valley’s Water Story: From Watershed to Showerhead” at the Glendale Main Library (5959 W. Brown St.) on Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The program features presentations by local water resource and conservation experts:

  • 9:00 to 9:25 a.m. – History and Diversity of Our Water Supply by John Felty, SRP.
  • 9:30 to 9:55 a.m. – Drought: Back to the Future by Douglas E. Kupel, Ph.D., author of Fuel for Growth: Water and Arizona’s Urban Environment.
  • 10:00 to 10:25 a.m. – Learn about What’s Trending in Water Conservation by Gerard Silvani, City of Phoenix.
  • 10:30 to 10:55 a.m. – Ask the Water Experts
  • 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Glendale Xeriscape Demonstration Garden Tour and Refreshments

Attendees will receive a free desert-adapted red yucca plant and free energy- and water-saving devices, including a high-efficiency showerhead, a four-pack of CFL’s, and a programmable thermostat that are funded by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant.
