DESCRIPTION:Watershed Management Group’s popular Hydrate project series is coming to Mesa! Hydrate Mesa will teach you how to create a sustainable backyard oasis at your own home. The Hydrate Mesa series will be held at the Mesa Main Library on Tuesday evenings (Aug. 23 to Sept. 7) from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. Join us for the first session on Aug. 23 and you’ll receive a free rain gauge so you can track the rainfall at your home. And for every session you attend\, you’ll receive a raffle ticket to be entered in a drawing for more water-harvesting goodies. Attend any or all six programs. \nHYDRATE YOUR COMMUNITY: The Valley gets about 8 inches of rainfall per year—and we’ll show you how to make the most of it. We’ll help you identify the best water harvesting solutions for your home\, including all potential sources of greywater and free rainwater you can use in your landscape to support your trees and plants while lowering your water bills. You’ll learn how you can harvest 10\,000 gallons of water or more each year and ensure a healthy and abundant future for your community. \nClass project: List of water sources and annual plant water needs. \nClass if FREE\, but you must register.

If you’re looking for the best trees and plants to attract hummingbirds and butterflies\, bloom bright with color\, or cool off your home with shade\, we’ve got you covered. \nClass project: Plant plan for your home – type\, location\, and benefits of native plants you will use. \nNOTE: This class offers an OPTIONAL tour of a water harvesting installation at Mesa Urban Garden\, 212 E. 1st Ave\, from 5:15 to 5:45 p.m. This location is just 1/2-mile from Mesa Main Library. Participants will have time to go from the tour site to the Library by start of class start at 6 p.m.
