Attention Photographers: Capture the Beauty and Importance of Arizona Water

November 13, 2019

The Water Resources Research Center’s (WRRC) Annual Photo Contest is back and it’s your chance to showcase your work while helping convey the beauty and importance of Arizona water. Use your creativity and technical ability to express the many ways water transforms our state and how our state transforms water. Capture anything from people and nature to business and agriculture. It’s completely up to you. Just make sure your photo relates to water and that it’s taken in Arizona. That said, if you are inspired by our 2020 conference title, “Water at the Crossroads: The next 40 years,” then go for it!

The contest is open to anyone that is 15 or older prior to or on the last day a photograph can be submitted. The deadline is Friday, Dec. 6, 2019. For high school students under 18, permission of a parent or guardian is required in order to submit a photo.

The award categories are Best in Show, Best of Category “Nature,” Best of Category “People,” and Best of Category “Water at the Crossroads: The Next 40 Years.”

The winning photographs will be featured on the WRRC website and at the 2020 WRRC Annual Conference on March 27, 2020.* The winners will also be recognized at the February 2020 Chocolate Fest. All images will be considered for use on our 2020 postcard packets.

Need some additional inspiration? Check out our 2018 contest winners. We can’t wait to see YOUR work!

*This year’s conference will explore Arizona’s water management over the past 40 years and look forward to the next 40. The presentations and panels will look at how our resources are changing, pressures affecting water use, what’s happening around the State, and what is the best way to achieve and maintain resiliency. The highlight of the conference will be a presentation by keynote speaker, Bruce Babbitt, a former Arizona Governor and past U.S. Secretary of the Interior.
