Tucson – Earth Day \ History and Ecology of Acequias in the Sonoran Desert

Join us for a celebration of Earth Day that focuses on water resources and the tradition of canals, or acequias, in local traditions. The day will feature talks by ethnoecologist Jesus Garcia, Tohono O’odham Language and Culture Instructor Gacelle Ramon-Sauberan, ethnohistorian Michael Brescia and biologist and artist Dennis Caldwell.
There will also be science activities for youth led by science teacher Elena Martin and Aquatic Conservation student Andrew Mayer, aided by the Mission Garden education team and other educators in the community.
